We need to grow the next generation of leaders and the suggestions in this book will give us a huge boost in doing that. The context of this book is spot on for parents nurturing developing young minds. We need to really move away from the old way of thinking (L-Directed thinking), and encourage the next generation to have an open approach to learning and leading.
Totally recommend this one. Very interesting and well written book. Easy to read.
A top pick for business and general-interest libraries alike. For decades the key to surviving in the world has been left-brain thinking with careers keyed to lawyers, accountants and engineers. The future, former White House speechwriter Daniel Pink maintains, is in right-brain thinkers - designers, teachers, creative and empathic professions: A WHOLE NEW MIND tells how to stimulate and use right-brain thinking for maximum profit and achievement, and this audio receives a fine reading by author Pink himself.
Retired. However, part of the point of the book is that training yourself and expanding the way you think needs to be your journey -- any more input from the author would have just been fluff. Rather, this is surprisingly tantalizing with its ideas about skill needed by the workforce of the future.
Whatever your purpose for reading this book, you are in for a treat. As it is, I received some good things to think about, and "A Whole New Mind" points me in a new direction. This is a very short read (I read it in about 4 hours or so), and it is true there are few details or solutions or step by step guides as to improving your right brain thinking, as other reviewers have mentioned.
This is hardly a book of right-brain/left-brain pseudo-psychology. This is also a good book for learning new ways to expand your life, increase your enjoyment of life, and augment your knowledge. The author also graciously recommended additional books on specific topics, and I'll happily check some of those out.
Not interested in employment skills. Still in school not looking for a job.
I would highly recommend this nonfiction for mind expansion. It was well written, with good examples and an easy way to understand this issue. This is a very interesting book. It made me aware of our ever changing times and a new need for Right-brained thinkers.
